Jason is a husband, father, music educator, musician, designer, and amateur foodie living in the suburbs north of Austin, Texas with his wife Jackie and son Joseph. After teaching middle school band in the Houston area for 5 years, Jason relocated to Cedar Park, Texas to join the band staff at Cedar Park High School, capturing a UIL Texas State Marching Championship in 2015. In 2016, Jason accepted the position of Director of Bands for Rouse High School in Leander, Texas. In his second year at Rouse High School, Rouse advanced to the UIL 5A State Marching Contest for the first time in school history, advancing to finals and placing 9th overall. In the spring of 2018, he was named the Phi Beta Mu Texas Young Bandmaster of the Year.
He spent 8 summers teaching on the Brass Staff of the Madison Scouts from Madison, Wisconsin, serving mainly as a high brass specialist. He now spends his summers designing and coordinating marching band productions, writing marching band drill, and consulting with high school band programs around the country while also working as a leadership facilitator for the SASi leadership company based in Austin, Texas.
Jason's consultation approach—no matter the medium—is to find ways to help your program improve and provide a positive experience for your students. He maintains relationships to the best educators, designers, and innovators in music education and the pageantry arts today.
